Back to Who We are

Biography of Vicky LV

I was born in Wuhan, the most populous city and the educational center of Central China. I received my B.A. degree in English from the China University of Geosciences and the M.A. degree in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I obtained the teacher certificate from Hanban (國家漢辦) to teach at Confucius Institutes (孔子學院), and then moved to the United States with my husband to continue my graduate studies in Educational Psychology at the State University of New York – Albany. We spent wonderful years in Michigan, Arizona, and New York before returning to Hong Kong to teach in international kindergartens. In the meantime, I acquired my PGDE in Early Childhood Education from Hong Kong Baptist University and became a certified teacher.

I have over ten years of Mandarin teaching experience in the Chinese Mainland, the United States, and Hong Kong. I have been working with young children aged one to eight at kindergartens and lower primary schools. As a kindergarten teacher and a mom of two daughters, I strive to provide students with the finest learning experience. Kindergarten is usually the first time children have been away from their caregiver. I am determined to make it a positive and memorable experience for them. My teaching philosophy is based on the belief that cultivating the interest to learn is the key for students to succeed. I enjoy witnessing my students' progress (no matter how tiny it is) every day. I want the children's kindergarten experience to be magical. Every night, my students would fall asleep with a sweet smile, because they will meet Vicky Lao Shi the next morning.

I am thrilled to join the Fairchild family in 2022. l look forward to growing with Fairchild and all my students!
