As an Early Childhood Educator, cultivating young learners’ curiosity, creativity and confidence has always been my passion. This passion was first sparked when I worked as a babysitter for my neighbor’s granddaughter during secondary school years. Even though this job required primarily care taking of the baby, witnessing their achievement of every milestone and accompanying their growth have been very rewarding.
I was born and raised in Hong Kong and have lived here for most of my life. I attended the University of Washington in the United States, where I completed my Bachelor of Art in Early Childhood Education and Family Studies with practical field work at an international kindergarten in Seattle. In order to meet my thirst of knowledge in the early learning field and become a registered teacher, I completed my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Educational Management and my Postgraduate Diploma in Education in Hong Kong while working as a kindergarten teacher at a local school.
While teaching, I have always reflected on my teaching experiences and what I have learnt from college. After five years of working in a local school, had a thirst for an opportunity to expose myself into a different educational setting; therefore, I joined an international kindergarten as an Educational Assistant while being an hourly playgroup teacher on the weekends. Once I started teaching young children, I realized this is the dream job I had longed for. I can always see smiles on my students’ faces while they are willing to commit for a long period until they are satisfied with their finding or obtained knowledge, especially during sensory play. It is my firm belief that sensory play can help young children initiate investigation, increase self-confidence, develop personal interest, remain engaged in a long period of time, and enhance their creativity and inventiveness.
As a mother of a 21 month-old and being working with young children in professional settings for 8 years, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching a child learn in a caring, loving and fun environment. I am very excited to be part of the Fairchild Team!
