Biography of Chantelle Mullins

Hi my name is Chantelle Mullins and I am thrilled to join Fairchild Kindergarten. I was born and raised in South Africa, yet have had the privilege of travelling to over ten countries. I love the outdoors, surfing, hiking, camping and painting! I have a Diploma in Art as well as a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of South Africa, 2018.

From 2015- 2020 I worked as a teacher in South Africa and recently in Hong Kong. This has entailed working in a Pre-school as a K1 class teacher, working as an art teacher at a non-profit-organization called LIV Village, which is a place for orphaned and vulnerable children, teaching children from the ages of 2 years to 15 years, as well as working at a private school called Reddam House, as a facilitator for a boy with Autism. This past year I worked at Avendale International Kindergarten in Hong Kong as a K1/K2 teacher. These different teaching positions have allowed me to experience various teaching philosophies and curricula which includes the Early Years Foundation Stage, as well as the Reggio Emilia approach.

Through working with different cultures, races and languages I have learnt to see each child as a unique individual. My passion is to see children realize who they are and what they want to become in this world. I believe this starts from a young age, when they explore their environments and discover their interests whilst learning various skills. I believe that learning through play is such an exciting and diverse way of learning and developing, as the child is empowered to take ownership of their learning rather than being forced to do a lesson by the teacher which may not interest them at all.

It is a privilege to take your children on this learning journey. I look forward to an exciting year working alongside you.
